Travelling abroad with Intestinal Failure

Posted on 25 June 2020

Are you a patient or family member of a child with Intestinal Failure who is reliant on total parenteral nutrition (TPN)? Do you avoid travelling abroad in case of not having access to specialist care at times of need? You’re not alone!

We are very excited to announce that ERNICA has developed an online map tool on our website so that patients and families can easily identify specialist centres across Europe. Check it out here

On this page, you will also find templates which patients/families can use to record the patient's medical history/any clinical precautions. These can accompany the patient on their trip abroad in case emergency care is required.

A TPN holiday checklist is also available.

Although travelling is currently more restricted, these will be valuable tools moving forward for patients and families!
